That means easier access to places like BelRed, Wilburton, and the Spring District — areas already targeted for rapid development.

What’s Still to Come

While part of the East Link is already operational, the remaining segments are expected to open in 2025. This final phase will connect the Eastside directly to the 1 Line in Seattle, linking two key corridors and unlocking even more potential for property growth.

A key part of the project was the downtown tunnel — about a half-mile stretch from Main Street to Northeast Sixth Street. Completed in September 2020, this tunnel allows trains to move through the heart of Bellevue without disrupting street-level traffic. South Bellevue Segment

This segment extends from the I-90 East Channel Bridge to Southeast Fourth Street along 112th Avenue Southeast. It includes the South Bellevue Station and a brand-new parking garage, which is already open to the public. That parking access makes the area even more attractive to commuters and future residents.

Central Bellevue Segment

Covering a large swath from Southeast Fourth Street to 124th Avenue Northeast, this portion includes four major stations: East Main, Bellevue Downtown, Wilburton, and Spring District/120th. Since its completion in 2022, mixed-use complexes and tech campuses have been popping up quickly, driven by the promise of quick transit access.

BelRed Segment

From 124th Avenue Northeast to Northeast 20th Street, this section includes the BelRed/130th Station and a park-and-ride lot. The BelRed area, once dominated by warehouses and industrial buildings, is undergoing a remarkable transformation. It’s now one of the city’s key growth corridors.
